Busy Little Bee

The upcoming months are going to be a little more hectic than usual, but it'll be a nice change of pace from the dull routine I'm used to. I already spoke with my boss. I might be changing my schedule to 4 ten hour days so I can have 3-day weekends to work on my other stuff. That would actually be super because I already work 5 nine hour days anyways! I'm going to see how things go the next week or two and then I'll let her know what I want to do. It's nice to have that option.

So it looks like I'm going to have some extra cash too! Yay! The best part about it is the fact that I can comfortably pay my bills with my current job, so anything extra is exactly that...extra. I have already decided that if everything goes along as planned, I am going to treat myself to something that I would normally not buy. I have already given the apple store a good chunk of my salary with my G5 power mac, cinema display, iPods, Bose SoundDock, Intuos tablet, iBook and minor accessories, so I think I need to go another route. How does a Coach bag sound?? :) I know, it's so cliché and frivolous, but lookie how cute!

I don't know, we'll see. Maybe a small honeymoon would be nice. Rob refuses to let me chip in for my ring, which I think is stupid because what's the point of me having money and him having none? That's pretty much the situation now anyway. But I told him that if he's going to spend his money on a ring, I'd take him on a vacation. It's only fair!

In other Rob news, he goes for an MRI tomorrow. Knee problems again. The orthopedist thinks he re-tore his ACL and lateral meniscus, or something like that. That's what he gets for playing street ball with his students! This may require surgery again. That is going to suck big time. His last surgery was a few years before we met, but I know it was pretty bad. He'd have to be on crutches for months. I don't know how this will affect his teaching, I guess he'd have to take time off. Well, maybe he'll be lucky and the MRI will come back fine. He gets it read on Feb 8th.

Nothing much else going on in Mel-land. Oh, going to see The Decemberists tonight! Actually, it's just Colin Meloy, lead singer of the Decemberists. Favorite album of the month:

Highly recommended. Meloy writes the most bizarre stories. For example, "The Mariner's Revenge Song," which, in short, is a little story about a son seeking out the man who scorned his mother. His search leads him to a ship that gets eaten by a whale. But the narrator and the scorner are the only two that survive (the rest are chewed alive) and they find themselves in the belly of the beast. This is where Meloy reveals his plan for revenge. It's wacky. Check it out.

If you made it this far, congratulations. You must be bored. :) Have a lovely weekend!

Yes, I certainly am swell.

Finally, everything with my host has been straightened out! Yippee!!

Anyway, I changed my blog to the same template I use for my other blog. I was getting tired of that green. I'd like to do something a little more personalized, but this'll do for now. And I am no longer the coolest gal ev-ah. I am now, put simply, swell. I used to use that word a lot in high school, and I think it's about time it made a comeback, dontcha think?

I got lots of stuff to write about, but unfortunately, I have half a bajillion projects to work on today, so you'll just have to wait. I know, it's killing you. But don't worry. I will fill the three of you in on my life soon enough! Okay?

Later gators!
