The FIRST melissahead contest ever!

I had mentioned a few posts ago that Tomoko from TADworks inspired the idea of holding my own little contest. So here it is!

First of all, there is a (sort of) brand new product in the melissahead line. I had appointment cards previously, but I decided to take them up a notch. So now I have the Assorted Appointment Cards pack, which includes 8 cards (2 of each design) and adorable, little translucent sleeves to house them.

To enter the contest you must submit a comment that answers the following question, in honor of the new cards:
If you could schedule a meeting with anyone, alive, dead, real, fictitious, who would it be and why?

Einstein? Socrates? God? Johnny Depp? Me??? The options are endless!

Winner of the contest will receive a melissahead gift pack, which includes a set of the new appointment cards pictured here, as well as some other goodies, like a boxed set of notecards, some gift tags, etc. Basically whatever I can get my hands on, but trust me, it'll be good! I'll draw a random winner on Wednesday, the 27th at 8pm ET. Good luck to all!!!

Definitely God, so I could iron out the ongoing faith v. fact debate that goes on in my head.

I'd like to meet George "Dubya" so that I could slap him for this stupid and pointless war we're in.

Following which, I would like to meet Erin Potter.

I would like to pick the brain of Britney Spears. Man alive! What is going on with that crazy girl?

Steph Bewley said...

Kevin Spacey!

I'd like to know what drew him to the roles he has played. Love him!

Edgar Allan Poe.

Is that too creepy?

This is a good one! Right now I'd want to hang out with House... I know he's not real...he's a TV character, but he'd be able to tell me what's going on with me! :) Or, I'd like to hang with billy cystal. The guy would make me laugh bigtime :)

as always, everything looks terrific!

I'd have to say Harry Potter (the book character, not the actor). I would most surely love to fly that broom and play a little Quidditch! Entering the 'wizarding' world even for a brief moment, has got to be extraordinary! (yes I'm like 10 right now) :)

Although, Erin's suggestion is tempting, I still would have to say something rather cliche... my mom. She passed away just over 10 years ago, right before she turned 50. Every now and then I have dreams that she's still alive and I always wake up feeling like we didn't talk enough. The thing is, I've got an 8 year old daughter. I want to tell my mom all about her; I want to ask her advice about raising her; I want to ask her about the things that I did as a child (things that I could only appreciate now that I'm a mom myself); most importantly, I want to introduce them to each other. I want Joey to meet Grandma Sandy and sit on her lap because I know that my mom would be crazy about her and that Joey would feel the same about my mom. My mom was a goof, she was funny and caring and would do just about anything for anyone that needed anything. I don't miss her for what she could do for me so much as for how her actual presence made me feel. I just really really miss her.

JK Rowling...and I'd want to have the meeting about 24 hours after I finish reading book #7 next month. I don't want spoilers, but I'd love to talk with her afterwords.

It may sound cheesy, but I would want to meet Mother Teresa. I think I would probably crumble in the prescense of someone so pure of heart, but I truly am amazed by the kind of person she was - of her tolerance, her love, and her devotion. Even though I am not a "religious" person so to speak, I think she represented more than just that. If every person in this world had just an ounce of her tolerance and love the world would be a better place.

Definitely God. I wonder if he would give me the answers to my questions thought?! :)

Bill Watterson

*sigh* How I miss Calvin & Hobbes

Holy cow...this is deep. Ummm, my grandmother, Violet. She died when I was young. I would just liked her to have seen me with my children. I would of liked to talk to her as an adult.

mel - but not in a stalker-creepy sort of way, but more of a brown-noser-I-want-to-win-this-contest sort of way. :)

Alternative non-brown-noser answer:
Wes Anderson, just to see if he's as quirky as he seems.

Have to say my mom. Cause I miss her...

This is fun but I feel like my pick is quite superficial because Wendy and Jen's were really touching! Mine - Gewn Stefani. She is just so cool.

Can I pick 2? (and risk utter embarassment because they're so dorky??)

Oprah and Terry Bradshaw

Oprah because ...well... ok, I can't think of a reason.
Terry Bradshaw because I'm a huge Steelers fan and think he's soooo funny and witty!

(ok, after that, Melissa will probably block me from leaving messages here) :-)

Okay - I will go with the pulling of the heartstrings answer...

I would like to meet my wife for the first time again so I could ask her to dance earlier in the evening at the wedding we were at instead of waiting till after my fourth drink.

Bill Cosby.

Growing up in rural Nebraska, The Cosby show was my only real link to any sort of diversity. Sad but true.

But he's a funny guy that has been through a lot.

And I love Fat Albert.

Can I pick two...a personal and business?

Personal - my dad. He passed away in my early twenties and I never really knew him well - my parents were divorced when I was young. I'd just like to sit with him, maybe not to even ask questions, but just to sit and stare. Maybe a chance to say,"Look, Dad, look at my life and the neat things I did with it!"

Business - Anna Griffin. I'd love for her just to completely open up and spill the beans about how she went from local, custom invitation designer to her multi-million dollar stationery company. And I mean everything - the success and the failures along the way and today. Then, I'd take that info and share it with all of the paper peeps out there trying to make their way in the paper world. I'd also like the opportunity to tell her that her logo isn't really an "A" and a "G", but rather an "A" and an "L"...it's in a monogram book published by Dover. Doh! [slap forehead]

Nice try, Amanda! ;-)

Great responses everyone! Holy cow! I'm still thinking about my answer. I'm with some of the other folks on here, and I'd have to say my grandmother. One of the last things she said to me was when she was bedridden and could barely speak. I had just signed the papers on our home and when I walked into her room she said, "Hey there, homeowner." She would be so proud if she could see me today.

And I was really, really upset that she passed away before my wedding. We used to talk about it all the time when I was a little girl (back when she promised me she'd live to 100), and the fact that she wasn't there just didn't seem right.

Wow, that's depressing. Okay, I want to meet Carrottop.

(Totally kidding!!!)

Hmmm.. For some reason I have always wanted to meet Madonna. She's had a great career and has always been very successful.

this is such a great idea and i do love a giveaway. honestly, i have so many people i would love to meet.

for this moment, i'd love to sit and chat with patricia field. she was the woman behind Sex & The City's wardrobe. mmm. the colorful pattern mixture is pure fashion genius.

well, her or van gogh. man he knows his way around a paintbrush.

My great-great grandmother. I've read her journals and I would love to talk to her in person!

Johnny Depp. If for no other reason than to make out with him.

Anonymous said...

Not having read any of the others first, I'd like to schedule a meeting with Bill Gates and let him know how I feel about his Operating Systems. Of course, he could just take notes and not reply.....*S*

So many possibilities! I think I will pick Walt Disney.

I just thought of this answer the other day, b/c it's one that I can never give on the fly.

So, my answer for this moment is Steve Jobs when he was floundering around in college, taking his course that led him to fall in love with serif. I'd want to just hang out with him to see what he's like and what a person like that is like before they become who they are.

Unknown said...

hmm. I think i would pick Buffy the vampire slayer, from the show not the movie. I would like to be part of the scoobs, helping kill vampires at night, pretending everything is normal by day. I think it would be cool to be part of this kick-ass team led by a woman

billy bob thorton…because, c'mon he's billy bob thorton. Ha!

Okay, okay, I figured out my answer. I want to meet the Genie from the Lamp, so I can get three wishes. If you want to know what those wishes would be, hold your own contest! ;-)

ok, i think....

mozart. i used to be obsessed with him and i'd like to spend a day talking with him and just meeting someone so talented that they themself couldn't handle it...

we would eat chocolate ice cream and watch "amadeus" with tom hulce, and laugh at how stupid it all was, and SO not like him, in real life!!

my husband (Tyson) as a kid. it would be fun to know him then too.

great blog! although your Johnny Depp suggestion is tempting (just to sit and stare), I would have to go with Bear Grylls from Man versus Wild. I could always use extra extreme survivor tips.

John Lennon. I'd tell him to take a different route home that awful night.

Dagmar Jeffrey said...

If you could schedule a meeting with anyone, alive, dead, real, fictitious, who would it be and why?

John Lennon.

I want to understand how one draws upon their inner spirit to freely create, to champion a noble cause despite powerful opposition, to embrace humanity, to love, and despite his living legend status and ability to be otherwise, to remain humble. Who better to learn than from him.

Dagmar Jeffrey said...

Yea, I'd warn John Lennon too...actually I'd meet John David Chapman to whack him upside his head a few times with a copy of the Catcher in the Rye.

I would pick Leonard Cohen. And I would take my husband with me because he's such a huge fan, and that way I'd be covered for birthday and Christmas gifts for the next couple of years. Plus Leonard Cohen is a very interesting person and sexy to boot!

GW Bush so I could exorcise him. And let him know I don't appreciate him pretending to be of my faith.
- Zaphod

I would say GOD...but I think I would leave quite confused because he likes to keep things a mystery.

I would say the man who invented fire..but he IS a mystery..unless you can speak Caveman.

I would even say Steve Jobs...he owes me a laptop.

So I would have to choose TuPac. Not because of his gangster music, it's because of his willing to share himself with others, his creative abilities in song and poetry and the spirit that he can make a change in the world and motivate others to do so, too.

Just one? Wow....

Let's see. How about Dali? I think it would have been insane to be able to meet him and pick his brain a bit. Can you imagine working with him? Never a dull moment, I am sure...

Dang! I was hoping to blog about this contest and add pictures of the goodies I got in the mail in an effort to get my friends to buy your stuff -- don't worry, they'll still get the message about cute everything is. I think I'm going to have to order some more appt. cards because I can't bring myself to open the first set. SOOO Cute! Thanks for the extra touches to my package -- you rock!
